Caring About Charity Work
It’s a funny thing when you dedicate your time to a work that benefits a charity. Many people don’t understand the commitment and the self sacrifice. I’ve had a lot of people ask me why I would give away 100% of the profits to a cause. Here is the best answer I can give. This book is about the message of kindness and the magic of giving. It is about reinforcing an opportunity to learn the secret: that giving to others is really giving to ourselves. This book seeks to inspire children to jump off the sofa motivated by the story and the sparktificate to complete their own three acts of kindness. I guess I fundamentally believe that children learn from our examples. There is no stronger example I can set, that is in keeping with the spirit of this book, than to donate the profits to a cause as important as children’s brain tumor research. I also benefit because my children can learn from my example. What amount of money would any of us give to showcase kindness in such a demonstrable way to our own kids that it becomes part of how they think and behave themselves? Somehow this all works beautifully for me and I hope to personally benefit from this work down the road from continued hard work and making the spriitelees a series.
